‘Himachal in reverse gear’
Himachal Pradesh BJP president Rajeev Bindal had been the health minister in the party-led government from 2007 to 2012.
In view of the inclement weather and snowfall the national highway Manali-Leh had been officially closed for all types of vehicles on 7 November.
The Lahaul and Spiti district administration in Himachal Pradesh issued an advisory on Monday asking tourists not to go beyond Darcha.
Deputy Commissioner Lahaul and Spiti Sumit Khimta said, “In view of the inclement weather and snowfall the national highway Manali-Leh had been officially closed for all types of vehicles on 7 November. In addition, the Gramphoo to Losar road had also been restricted for vehicular traffic from 15 November. However, despite this, some tourists were violating the orders and were traveling beyond Darcha to Surajtal and Deepaktal.”
The area is prone to sudden snowfall which results in difficulty in carrying out relief and rescue operations, hence all the tourists are advised not to go beyond Darcha, advised Khimta.

He has also urged all the hotel owners to advise tourists not to travel beyond Darcha.
“If anyone is found violating the orders, punitive action under disaster management rules will be initiated against the defaulter,” he cautioned.
